MOJSTROVKA

An introduction to via feratta. Mojstrovka, the younger brother of Prisank is the perfect mountain in the Julian Alps in which to be introduced to the world of 'via feratta'. Starting from the Vrsic pass at 1611m opposite stands Prisank and Razor with Spik in the background. Hiking from the south side of the pass through limestone landscape to the north side of Mojstrovka where the first section of via feratta is located. This north face route leads us up the back of Mojstrovka offering stunning views down into Tamar Valley, Kranjska Gora and over into Austria.

On reaching 2000m we have completed the first section of the iron way. Situauted above a small bowl lies the peak. Walking along the ridge we look down into the valley and across towards Jalovec - the symbol of the Slovene Mountaineering Association - we make our way by some scrambling to the summit at 2332m.

On the summit is a stunning 360 degree panorama, across the valley lies Prisank, Razor and Triglav. Down the valley of Trenta towards the coast, back down the north face to Kranjska Gora and Tamar valley and into the countries of Austria and Italy.

On the way down we follow the south side path with Triglav always visable ahead of us until we reach the ridge that then leads down to the Vrsic pass.
