This ridge walk is regarded by Slovene Mountaineers and walkers as the most beautiful trek in Bohinj whilst being less demanding that others in neighbouring areas. Its strong links with the past and World War I make this stunning trek one of the most interesting and spectacular in the country.
Along the ridges are reminders of the past, small stretches of barbed wire are all that is left from the Soca Front. The beautiful outline of Mt Krn visible in the distance is a harrowing reminder of an area where millions of young soldiers lost their lives, and the region of Hemingway's "Farewell to Arms".
As we look down into the Bohinj Valley this is an area, which is known for it's special flavoured cheese and unique hay racks, which are amongst the oldest in the country, dating back some two hundred years. Our trail circles the lake and takes us along trails separating the two counties of Gorenjska (Alpine) and Primorska (Coastal), offering stunning views stretching from the Karavanke Mountains to the Adriatic Sea.
