Virgin white snow, frozen rivers and waterfalls, snow-capped peaks, numerous ski areas suitable for all standards of skiers, un-crowded slopes and beautiful scenery makes winters in Slovenia special. Slovene winters are short and sharp. Beginning in mid December and normally finishing towards the middle of March. During January and February daytime temperatures drop a little below freezing whilst in the evening and night they drop enough to freeze the lakes and waterfalls. However the winter air is dry in the Slovene alpine region and the sun shines regularly helping the days to feel warmer but the snow staying powdery and soft. Having also a good snow record as the Slovene Alps receive the coastal fronts bringing large quantities of snow to the ski regions. |
